Last week we had a couple at the office who travelled around Ecuador by themselves and their son, one of our interns. We asked them about their travel experiences and they were glad to tell us more about this.
The Dutch couple came to visit their son who’s currently doing his internship here at the office of Gulliver Expeditions and together with him they travelled around Ecuador to see the whole country. It was their first time outside Europe, which is already an experience on itself, but travelling around Ecuador is a completely different experience from anywhere else in the world.
Ecuador is a beautiful country known for its great biodiversity and the great nature the country offers. The couple travelled through the Andes together with their son and have seen many great places in Ecuador. They have visited Banos, Mindo, Otavalo, Cuenca and many more places. They have done the Cotopaxi Bikes tour with Gulliver Expeditions and stayed at the Hosteria Papagayo at Cotopaxi. ‘’We had a great time, we loved it’’, they said.
In total, they had 3 weeks but that is not enough to see the whole of Ecuador, they said. They have seen the whole Ecuadorian Andes and its beauty but didn’t have the time to visit the coast or the Amazon because basically there wasn’t enough time to do so. ‘’To travel in Ecuador, you’d need at least a month to see the whole country and its beauty.‘’
Before they got to Ecuador, they had some preconceptions about the country. They heard stories about unsafety, poverty, criminality and robbery of tourists, but after 3 weeks of having been in Ecuador their perception completely changed, as they had seen the complete opposite of these stories about Ecuador and South-America.
Ecuador is a developing country and the economy is growing stronger. The government has helped decreasing unemployment rates poverty by creating more jobs, they mentioned, which made them feel better about the country. Moreover, their son and the intern here at the company has also finally seen Ecuador and realizes in what a beautiful and diverse country he has been living for the past 4 months.
