Food – Tip, Pia and I went to this place on a Wednesday evening to try out the food for this blog. Govinda is a vegetarian restaurant in a small alley in the Centro Historico of Quito. The unusual thing about it, that it is part of an indian temple. So when we arrived, we saw the ceremonial room with chairs and tables and in a small room next to it, there was a buffett with Empanadas, Pizza, Tofu and lots of sweet things. After the nice employe explained us, what everything was, we could choose our food. They heated it up on a small grill. When we asked, where are we supposed to sit, they brought us to a table in the ceremonial room. And right in this moment the ceremonia began. So we needed to eat quietly and felt us a bit weird. The main course was good, but the dessert was delicious. This buffett is open all day long, but they also have a real restaurant, which serves just lunch at 12.
This experience was unique! I would recommend either to go there by midday or to pick something to go.
Besides the food, they have also a lot of ecological products, like soap, condiments and granola.
If you are interested in ecological products and yammi vegetarian food, than you should not miss it.0
