It was a great day for a walk so I went around the streets of La Zona, the night life hub in Quito.
Suddenly I noticed a red sign over a glass door: Suvlaki. That made me remember the delicious dish I ate in my trip to Greece. It was a Greek restaurant indeed! I quickly called my boyfriend for a lunch appointment.
That’s how I discovered SUVLAKI, the best Greek restaurant in Quito!
In a casual atmosphere, you can enjoy a perfect Greek meal for the same price than a Mc Donald’s menu. The owners are a Greek guy and his Ecuadorian wife: They know how to season it the Mediterranean way!
You can choose from the suvlaki sandwich (kind of Greek wrap), the suvlaki dish (the same than the sandwich but served in a dish with fries and the delicious yogurt sauce), fried cheese balls with spicy yogurt sauce (my favorite), zuquini chips, tomato chips, dakos (toast with tomato, feta cheese, olive oil, and other spices), and many other delicacies. No extravagant or weird flavors, just the perfect combination of ingredients that provide a delightful moment to your mouth!
Traditional Greek food is mostly a kind of fast food, so if you want a quick pleasure and you are in la Zona, you can’t miss this little corner of Greece in Quito, located in Avenida Amazonas y Francisco Robles, just a few steps from Gulliver‘s office!
It has become my favorite restaurant and I can’t stop bringing my friends since that day!
