Explore the greatest pre-Columbian empire in the world, Machu Picchu! The city that was perfectly built with organized walls included farming terraces with their irrigation system, temples, towers, and tunnels. The old lovely colonial buildings of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Cusco and the Isla del Sol a 9,6 km (5,9 miles) long and 4,8 km (2,9 miles) long wide islands considered sacred places.
Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
In the afternoon you will explore the impressive city of Cusco, the history of the Incan Empire started here. The Imperial city of the Incas was a complex urban center with different religious and administrative functions. In Cusco’s historic center you will see Spanish buildings, native ruins, temples, and finely finished buildings of the Incas, one of the main attractions in the Cusco downtown is the “Temple of the Sun” Qoricancha, the main square Plaza de Armas.
After this visit you will continue to the nearby ruins:
Kenko: Here you will see its underground galleries and its semicircular amphitheater.
Tambomachay: This is a complex of walls connected by stairways, and water springs that fed a well via channels in which the Inca people bathed, for it is believed that he also worshipped water.
Puca Pucara: The red fortress that is located on a hill, possibly to defend forces from enemies.
Sacsayhuaman Fortress: An imposing example of Inca military architecture, this fortress was built using large slabs of granite to safeguard the city from Antis attacks or invading forces from the east.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off in the city center or close to your hotel.
After breakfast, we will pick you up for your journey to the Sacred Valley with its amazing nature, breathtaking views, and ancient ruins.
The valley was chosen by the Incas due to its geographical and climatic conditions. It was the best place in Peru to plant all different kinds of vegetables and plants. Your first stop will be at a Textile Center, where you will see a demonstration of textile arts in its natural element. You will also get to see some native animals of Peru.
After this you will visit the Pisac Archaeological Complex, this is a lower part of the complex where the agricultural area and the pre-Hispanic cemetery (the largest in the Americas) are located. Next, you will tour the visit to the artisan market and the Valley of Urubamba. Here you can enjoy a delicious buffet lunch if included.
After lunch, you will explore the town of Ollantaytambo and visit the Archaeological Complex. After the tour, you will take the train to Aguas Calientes, upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. (All hotels are within walking distance).
Overnight Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu
You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the train station. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our staff that will help you board the bus towards the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu in approximately 25 minutes trip. Once you arrive at Machu Picchu the guide will start your tour.
Machu Picchu is surrounded by dramatic landscapes between the Peruvian Andes and the Amazon Basin, Machu Picchu is maybe the greatest wonder of ancient architecture in the world. It symbolizes the Inca culture with all its historical, cultural, and natural values. The city is divided into a lower and upper part to separate farming from residential areas, it consists of subsidiary centers, an extensive road and trail system, irrigation canals, and agricultural terraces.
At the end of the tour, you will have the option to remain in Machu Picchu for a while or take the return bus to Machu Picchu Pueblo. You will board the return train to the city of Cusco and be picked up at the train station to be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.
The next morning you will be picked up from your hotel to the bus stop towards Puno. On your way you will visit the chapel of Andahuaylillas, this church dates from the seventeenth century also known as the Sistine of the Andes for the beauty of its murals, the works in gold leaf, and the paintings of the Cusco school that houses inside, the tour also makes a stop to visit the Archeological complex of Raqchi also known as the Temple of the god Wiracocha, who was the supreme Inca deity, in this place you will find the largest number of Colcas (Barns).
After lunch you will visit La Raya, the border between the cities of Cusco and Puno at 4,335 m (14,222 ft), the famous snow-capped Chimboya mountain is located here, and the Amazon River is born at this point. Here tourists can take pictures of the landscape, and the visit lasts a couple of minutes, before the end of this stop, you will visit the museum of Pukara which is a culture that developed from 1600 BC to 400 AD and is located in 106 km (mile 65,8).
Once you arrive in the city of Puno you will be transferred to your hotel.
The tour starts early with the pick-up at your hotel in Puno. You will be brought to the port of Puno and taken to the floating islands of Uros. Here you will participate in a cultural demonstration that allows you to learn more about life at Uros and the mystic culture. They called themselves Lupihaques “Sons of the Sun”.
Afterward, you board the boat again towards Taquile Island. On our arrival, our guide will explain the culture of the Taquileños known for their fine handwoven textiles and clothing, which are regarded as among the highest-quality handicrafts in Peru. Taquile and its textile Art were honored by being proclaimed “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”.
After lunch, you will go back to Puno and be taken to your hotel.
Overnight in Puno
After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel in Puno to transfer you to Copacabana Sanctuary and the local market. After lunch, you will depart by shared boat to the Isla del Sol, and visit the Inca Garden, Pilcokaina Palace, the Stairway, and the Sacred Fountain of the Incas.
The way back by boat to Copacabana and by road to your hotel in La Paz will be provided.
Overnight La Paz
In the morning you will have free time to explore on your own.
In the afternoon you will explore the administrative capital of Bolivia. You will visit the embroiderer’s street of typical costumes where colorful folk dresses are displayed, an excursion to the historical center of the city of La Paz, a visit to the Witches Market (mystical articles of the Andean region), the Church of San Francisco at Murillo main square, the Executive Palace, the Legislative Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral and Killi Killi View Point.
A unique trip by cable car to enjoy a beautiful panorama of the city in one of the most picturesque and long cable urban air transport in the world, a visit to the impressive Moon Valley located 10 km (6,2 miles) away from La Paz downtown, these curious geological formations were created by the erosion of the winds and the heavy rains forming an attractive lunar landscape.
Overnight in La Paz
Next, you will go to the airport for your flight to Uyuni.
Upon arrival you will start the tour by visiting the train cemetery (old locomotives that were used as transport of minerals), you will continue towards the village of Colchani, where you can observe the processing of the salt (drying, grinding, and bagging salt) you will also have the opportunity to perform purchases of crafts made based on salt.
After this activity, you will visit the famous Salar of Uyuni. This is the world’s salt flat with 10,582 square kilometers (113,903 square ft). It is located in the Daniel Campos Province in Potosí (Southwest of Bolivia) at an altitude of 3,656 meters (11,994 ft) above sea level. The Salar was formed as a result of transformations between several prehistoric lakes. It is covered by a few meters of salt crust, which has an extraordinary flatness with average elevation variations within one meter over the entire area of the Salar.
In the rainy season (December to March) all the salt is covered with a layer of water that provides a Surreal visual experience. It looks like a Natural Mirror which reflects the sky. At an according time you will have lunch (if included), and we will continue our visit to Incahuasi Island (a rocky island in half of the salar where we will observe the giant cactus, some of them more than 100 years old), then you will see the sunset which is a spectacular experience, after that, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to La Paz.
