Real Ecuadorian food , and with real I mean not gourmet, safely clean and completely tasty, you have to go to “La Olla Criolla“, which means “The creole pot” but with an amusing rhyme.
Located in the Nayón area (Adress: Nuestra Señora de Santa Ana S1-48 y Av. Quito), it offers all the traditional dishes from mashed potato soup to goat stew, including the fritada, broad beans, and a delicious drink called “Rosero”: some kind of salad fruit with orange juice and mote corn. You can also find traditional deserts like pristiños (fried dough with a special honey), fig desert with cheese, and the traditional colada morada.
Nayón, just 10 minutes away from Quito, is famous for adventure activities like canopy, and for the flowers and plants stalls. Its warm and humid climate make it a perfect place for growing all king of beautiful flowers like orchids and plants of all sizes and colours, including gorgeous bonsai trees.
