Ecuador
Ecuador is a country crossed by the equatorial line, a country with one of the highest active volcanoes on earth, a country with a rich culture and an even richer natural diversity. Ecuador – a country to travel in!
In this article I want to show you 10 reasons, why it would be a superb idea to travel to one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Nature – and that a whole lot of it! Within only one day of driving in a car, you’re able to switch from the sandy beaches to the highest peaks of the Andes and then go on to the green depth of the mighty jungle and who doesn’t like a great variety on scenery!
Wildlife – As diverse Ecuador’s nature is, its wildlife has even more diversion to offer. During great trips of bird watching, hikes through the jungle – la selva – and trips on the sea, you’ll be able to see all kinds of animals. From petite ones like colourful butterflies and hummingbirds, to dangerous caimans, up to great majestic whales.
People – While travelling around, you’re going to learn more about Ecuadorians fastly. While at first they may seem shy, they’re actually very outgoing, always happy to help you around and eager to learn about you and your culture.
Adventure – If you’re into mountain biking [link here], wild-water rafting, canyoning or climbing demanding mountain peaks , I’ve got news for you: Ecuador truly is the place to get your adrenalin pumping! Whether you like private tours or want to have some big fun in a group – your travel agent will find just the right adventurous tour through Ecuador for you.
Relaxation – If you’d rather like your heart pumping at a more comfortable speed, you’ll have plenty of possibilities to lay back and enjoy a hot spring bath, enjoy good food and rich flavoured wine and treat yourself with an exquisite hotel in the middle of the Andes.
City life – For young folks, Quito is definitely the place to be. At the beloved Plaza Foch, real partying is going on. Where travellers meet locals, everyone enjoys a good night out with chilled drinks and hot salsa! In the ancient part of Quito, in la ronda you’ll find yourself in between colonial houses, where one pub is right next to the other and has life music and cooled cervezas waiting for you.
Culture – Ecuador is blessed with a rich history and an ancient culture, which is still lived by the young people. On several day trips from Quito you can visit authentic rural homes, owned by indigenous people. If you want to get the real deal, you have to visit the biggest artisan market of Ecuador – Otavalo – full of colourful alpaca shawls, handmade shopping bag or instruments and a lot – I say a lot – of perfect souvenirs for your people back home.
Galapagos – do we really need to get into details here? Being on the world’s’ most exquisite islands, watching the great tortoises idly on the beach, active sea lions and dinosaur-like iguanas truly is worth every penny on earth.
The panorama – Ecuador offers you one of the most exquisite panoramas you’ll ever see. And the best way to enjoy this: Hop on one of many trains which travels through the Highway of the Andes and indulge the amazing scenery of snow-topped mountains, wild llamas and indigenous culture. You can just sit back, relax and enjoy the world’s beauty.
And last but not least: all those points above are packed in one amazing country: Ecuador. Come visit!
