The Parinacota Volcano is located on the Boliva-Chile border in the Andes Cordillera. It is considered the twin of the Pomerape Volcano and together they make up the snowy Payachatas or “Twin Gods” of the inhabitants of the Andean highlands of both Bolivia and Chile.
Located in the Sajama National Park, the Parinacota is not an extremely technical climb during the dry season, however you should not underestimate the altitude. You will be climbing past 6000 meters. The last eruption of the volcano happened over 1,000 years ago, nevertheless it is still considered active.
The peak of Parinacota is almost perfectly symmetrical and is a favorite mountain for climbing in this area. The main climbing season is from late June to mid September. Live this experience booking with Gulliver Expeditions!
