Illimani is the second highest mountain in the Cordillera Real and second highest of Bolivia. When in La Paz, this is the mountain that provides the impressive backdrop behind the city. There are four main summits of Illimani, many consider it to be a mountain group. The impressive mountain of Illimani can even be seen from hundreds of miles away from La Paz.
The Illimani mountain climb is meant for experienced climbers, however it is a very enjoyable climb and very straight forward. Good physical conditions and acclimatization will be necessary as the altitude and duration of the climb can be challenging.
