The Andes

Throughout the entire year of 2019 over 100 climbers reigning from all over the world reached the summit of various snow-capped mountains of Ecuador with Gulliver Expeditions. Such mountains were Ilinizas, Corazon, Cayambe, the highest active volcano, Cotopaxi and the majestic Chimborazo towering over 6,000 meters. We are so proud to provide these opportunities to show the best of our beautiful country to the rest of the world.

Hosteria Papagayo Renovation

This year we have put in a lot of effort in renovating Hosteria Papagayo. We are confident our guests will feel even more welcome upon their arrival and will enjoy the following new changes;

1. La Bolivia restaurant has been enlarged and remodeled
2. Outdoor hot tub
3. New sauna
4. Massage area reconstruction
5. Implementation of a small gym
6. Construction of Event and Meetings room with capacity for 40 people

Field trip with children

One of the best experiences of the year was the “Fun Day” organized in cooperation with an Austrian foundation. They provided food and education to children who unfortunately work in the streets due to poverty.
We understand the difficulties they experience daily, so we wanted to prepare a day of fun – like every child should be doing. It was a day they to enjoy their childhood playing worry free and sharing time with animals. They were picked up early and had some integration with activities and games at the Papagayo Inn. The activity they enjoyed the most was the horseback riding, a wonderful moment with our professional guide Mira Alhert.

Ecuador Image Gallery

The Ecuador Image Gallery shows the best shots taken by professional Ecuadorian photographers, giving them a public showing of their amazing work during a period of two or three months in Plaza Foch; a touristic area in the north of Quito. This year we had wonderful exhibitions starring Diche Mideros, Andrés Jiménez, Santiago Borja, Lucas Scott and Adrián Soria. Our plan for 2020 is to have four unique exhibitions. It would be a pleasure to have you and your family participate in viewing the event throughout the year to see the beautiful works of art by Ecuadorian photographers.

Lucy in the Andes

Lucy in the Andes is a special project close to our hearts that we began in 2018. It aims to inform young women in different Andean communities about the importance of their health, sex education, and family economy management; as well as laws that protect and serve them they may not be aware of. The project is focused mainly on guiding pregnant teenagers who are not sure what to do in their positions. In August of 2019 we did our first workshop in Angamarca, within the Cotopaxi province. It was truly special to see 125 young women attending the workshop, we felt we were making a difference in their lives. We are planning future events, although there may be so much work to do, we are very excited about creating a positive impact with a lasting impression!
