The arrival to Puno brings you to the infamous Lake Titicaca where you get to experience the locals and their community who live on man-made islands made from the tall reeds and grass of the lake. Thousands of Uros people live on these manmade tiny floating islands. These islands and the people that live on them are mysterious and magical—well worth a visit.
To bring an exciting end to the tour, you are transferred to Juliaca for a flight to Lima, the capital city. Here a colonial and modern fusion awaits your arrival. With colorful neighborhoods, award-winning restaurants, a vibrant nightlife, and colonial architecture, Lima is truly an exciting place to be and a perfect way to bring your itinerary to a close in this amazing country.
You will be greeted by one of our drivers who will be holding a sign with your name and then you will be transported to your hotel accommodation. Enjoy your first night in Peru!
We will start the tour visiting the Qorikancha or Temple of the Sun considered by the Incas’ as the most important religious structure. Continuing on the tour you visit the Plaza de Armas and the Cusco Cathedral enjoying its beautiful architecture and colonial paintings, as well as a visit to the Museum of Oro – or gold. Afterwards board a bus to visit 4 different archeological ruins near the city. The ruins are Sacsayhuaman, Quenqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay. Afterwards you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy on your own, or look for additional experiences our agents can help you with.
With breathtaking views, ancient ruins, and various experiences that can’t be found elsewhere; the Sacred Valley has so much to offer. The valley was chosen by the Incas because of its geographical and climatic conditions, today it is known as the Urubamba Valley, however it is Sacred due to its healing properties and all it offered the Incas as it was the best place in Peru to plant different kinds of vegetables and plants. Here you have the chance to visit the colorful Pisac Market. You will find a wide variety of locally produced handicrafts and souvenirs you can take home with you. The final visit in the valley is Ollantaytambo.
A unique way to travel to Machu Picchu is by train, on the ride you can explore the Andean landscape like never before and enjoy the comfortable ride on the way into the Incan citadel. Upon arrival, you first enter Aguas Calientes where you then board a bus the rest of the way to Machu Picchu. Once entering Machu Picchu you have a total of 4 hours inside, the first 2 are with a guide who will give you all kinds of interesting facts and knowledge, and the remaining 2 hours you can explore on your own and take pictures before leaving. Returning, you will go back onto the bus to Aguas Calientes and then continue back to Cusco for the night.
This day you begin the Sun’s Route from Cusco to Puno. It is the best way to travel from Cusco to Puno where you can enjoy various places of magical charm and ancestral history . The first place to visit is the chapel of Andahuaylillas, a church dating back to the seventeenth century. After, visit the archaeological complex of Raqchi, also known as the Temple of the God Wiracocha, who was the supreme Inka deity. There will be many views of ruins and landscapes passing through the Sun’s Route, keep your eyes open and camera ready!
The island of Taquile is situated about 36km by boat from Puno, it takes about 2.5 hours to arrive by speedboat. Taquile is home to a Quechua village who are mostly farmers, fishermen and experts in weaving. In Taquile you can enjoy a cultural demonstration where they show you the high quality of artistic work with textiles. For many families selling textiles and products is an important income. Enjoy the day learning about this special place, unique to the world before returning back to Puno.
In the morning you will be transferred from Puno to Juliaca for a flight to the capital of Peru, the city of Lima. Upon arriving you will be transported to your hotel accommodations to rest, relax, and freshen up before an afternoon city tour. The city tour will take you to the historical center and museum visits. You can also ask your agent to tell you more about the evening city tour with magical water shows, dinners with folkloric dances and themes for each entree, main dish, and dessert, and to top it off an amazing horse show.
Today you will be transferred to the Lima Airport.
